New Onkyo home cinema packages are super smart but keep it simplePress Release dated: 13 Feb 2012
Home cinema specialist Onkyo, has assembled three class-leading 5.1-channel packages designed to take the guesswork out of purchasing an entry-level surround sound system.
The first two packages in the this release - the HT-S3505 and HT-S4505 - are similar, but offer the user an alternative speaker set according to their personal preference and budget. The HT-S6505 offers home networking, more power, upgraded speakers, and an expanded feature set.
All three home cinema receivers offered in this release now come equipped with WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology), a proven amplification concept that reduces signal noise and provides large amounts of controlled power instantaneously. Top-quality TI Burr-Brown 192 kHz/24-bit DACs on all channels, a powerful 32-bit DSP processing chip, and discrete output-stage components - not inexpensive ‘all-in-one’ amplifier chips - contribute to exceptionally good audio performance.
Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio high-resolution soundtrack decoding are a given. An Audio Return Channel (ARC) for TV audio through the home cinema, 3D video, and an overlaid On-Screen Display are supported on all models.
The receivers included in both the HT-S3505 and HT-S4505 packages feature four HDMI inputs and one output, while the HT-S6505 boasts a generous six HDMI inputs and one output.
The first model in this release - the HT-S3505 5.1-channel Home Cinema Receiver/Speaker package - comprises the HT-R358 home cinema receiver, two high-gloss bass reflex front speakers, two satellites, and a powerful bass reflex center speaker. A subwoofer with 16cm down-firing cone rounds out the package, adding impact to movie scores and game soundtracks. On the receiver, a rear-mounted Universal Port for an optional iPod/iPhone dock or DAB+ tuner is also included.
The HT-S4505 5.1-channel Home Cinema Receiver/Speaker Package, meanwhile, adds a front-mounted USB for direct digital connection of an iPod, iPhone, or music-filled flash memory device. Audyssey 2EQ room acoustic correction with microphone is included, while Audyssey’s Dynamic EQ loudness correction and Dynamic Volume guarantee a smooth, consistent performance regardless of sudden changes in dynamic levels.
This package boasts a highly efficient 80w powered subwoofer, which allows the receiver to concentrate its power on the mid-range and upper-end frequencies.
Crowning this release is the HT-S6505 5.1-channel Network home cinema Receiver/Speaker Package. This system incorporates wireless-capable networking, which allows users to stream from leading cloud services such as MP3tunes and Spotify, and gain access to a vast selection of internet radio stations. Once connected to the local network, users can also play music -including lossless formats - stored on PC through the receiver and speakers.
To simplify input selection, Onkyo introduces InstaPrevue technology. Rather than seeing ports listed by number, a series of video thumbnails are displayed on screen showing the content available on devices connected to the receiver via HDMI. With this new technology, the user can actually see what is playing, and choose accordingly.
Full control of the system is made available with a free Remote App for iPod Touch/iPhone and Android phone. The clean and simple GUI offers a more visually oriented approach to home cinema control, while Android phone users can also stream audio directly from their handsets.
The receiver has a front-panel USB, Audyssey 2EQ room acoustic correction, and a Zone 2 line-out for distributing audio to another room equipped with an amplifier and speakers.
Additionally, this system offers Onkyo’s new ‘Quick Set-Up’ feature. Pressing the ‘Q’ button on the RI remote overlays a simple menu on the program being viewed, allowing the user to make setting adjustments quickly and easily.
For consumers making their first foray into the world of home cinema, these three packages offer simple installation, stress-free operation, and sparkling performance. Home cinema without the hassle!
